THE RESTORATION

It’s the intervention whose aim is to keep and give back to artist manufactured its native condition without erasing all the effects of the time. The furniture restoration haven’t to renew the article and nor doing inappropriate integration which could risk to transform the original function. As a matter of fact during the operation of restore, it must be respected the original nucleus of the work avoiding each action which can change it.It’s fundamental to respect its patina, which is considered a fundamental part of the historic dimension of the work. The intervention can concern the simple action of preservation of the status in which the work arrive until us or a total restore operation tending towards to bring it to its original function, considering the effects of the time on the furniture.The interventions on the furniture ca be: disinfestations, consolidations, elimination of additions, drying of decorated surface for the support,
finishes, cleaning and polishing. All the interventations on the furniture are realized with a method and reversible materials both after their application and with spending of time. The principle of reversibility warrants , when it’s necessary, the exclusion of each element added to work without using aggressive methods.

STEPS AND INTERVENTATION OF OUR RESTORATION :

• Observation of the furniture and evaluation of current conditions. Planning of type of the interventation;
• dismantling of functional components that is : handles, pommels, plates for lock, hinges, etc.
• Dismantling of one or more components, if it’s necessary to repair or to substitute components of the structure which aren’t reachable;
• dry- revarnish with hot water or with chemistry substances in relation with removal material;
• operations on deformation or wood-crack, that is: bending of the wood, cracking, denting, anti wood-warm treatment ;
• operations on the structure, repair and integration of missing elements: substitution of joints, guide for cases, application for missing frames, insertion of inlays, interventation on the door;
• interventation of coated furniture or with large slabs: unsticking of planking, elimination of air-bubbles, cracks or blowing up;
• finishing: plastering, smoothing, dyeing (when it’s necessary), wax polishing, lacquer rubber polishing.
